For example, Ron Tremper has developed the R.A.P.T.O.R. Since Tremper Albinos were the first strain of leopard gecko Albinos to be discovered, they are very common and usually the first strain to be worked with when crossing into other morphs. The Tremper Albino eyes tend to be a silver color with red veins. Tremper Albinos can range in colors from dark browns to light yellows, oranges, and pinks. Tremper Albinos, also known as Texas Strain Albinos, were the first of the three strains of Albinos to be discovered in 1996 by Ron Tremper. Since it only affects the melanin pigmentation, albino leos can still show orange, yellow and brown coloring. Albinism in leopard geckos is apparently slightly different, because they are not true albinos but rather extreme amelanistics, which roughly means that they produce virtually no melanin, but still have the potential capability to do so (because all strains do in fact have tyrosinase). Leopard geckos have three types of pigmentation, contained in three different types of cells: melanophores, which contain black pigment (melanin) xanthophores, which contain red, yellow or orange pigment and iridophores, which contain crystalline materals that reflect and refract light.Īlbinism is usually when animals cannot produce melanin because they lack the essential enzyme tyrosinase. That can be a confusing mess to sort out later! It is absolutely critical to be aware which line specimens to be used for breeding programs are from, use of more than one type will result in normal appearing geckos, and if bred together, these may then produce offspring of either or both types. All three are tyrosinase positive forms, and are so similar in appearance they cannot be separated visually with 100% certainty. Netflix has certainly renewed far less-watched shows than The Sandman before, even putting the series' higher budget aside. The delay to renew what seemed like a very popular show perplexed fans for months. The Sandman creator responded with a succinct " You are not alone in watching it slowly." The writer's comments arrived at the same time as rumors that Netflix wanted to abandon its binge model and switch to weekly releases. The Sandman is also full of pretty dense lore, or "rich fare" as one commenter put it, especially for anyone experiencing it for the first time.

But on the downside, it has a shorter introductory period for new purchases. It boasts the same cash back rate as the Discover it ® Cash Back, but offers a lengthier intro APR on balance transfers. While these are typical intro APRs for a cash back card, cardholders who want the best balance transfer offer might be better off opting for the Discover it® Balance Transfer instead. If you max out the quarterly purchase limit on your bonus category purchases, you can still bring in $300 in the first year on bonus purchases alone (which is then matched by Discover at the end of your first year for a total of $600). This is an incredibly lucrative offer, even for a more moderate spender. Rather than a set cash bonus, the Discover it ® Cash Back includes a unique introductory offer for new cardholders – it matches the cash back you earn at the end of your first year. Flexible redemption options, a generous sign-up bonus and intro APR offers are just a few of its notable features. The Discover it® Cash Back should be on your list of cash back cards to consider for more than a few reasons. Why you might want the Discover it ® Cash Back Discover is not accepted as widely as Mastercard or Visa, which could limit your usage - especially abroad.Unlike some rival cards’ cash back, you can’t increase the value of your rewards by pooling them with a premium card and redeeming for travel or via transfer partners. The high cash back rate is limited to $1,500 in combined purchases per quarter (then 1%), which is typical, but can limit the card’s rewards potential for big spenders.Enrollment is required each quarter to earn rewards from the rotating categories, so you have to stay on top of your spending in order to maximize reward earnings. ![]() ![]() ![]() So it has flexibility, unlike traditional lauter tuns. Depending on the size of the mash, he can add or remove plates from the filter. There are a few other points that Lee brought up. And the spent grain going to Kindred Spirit’s local farmer looked extremely dry. Efficiencies for mash filters typically run in percentages from mid-to-high 90s. By squeezing the mash, less water is left behind in the mash, and more wort is extracted to the kettle. Sparge water is added as well, similar to traditional lauter tun brewing. Water is pumped into the bladders at high pressure, thus squeezing the mash. Every other chamber on the mash filter has been fitted with a bladder. After a short recirculation (Vorlauf), the wort is run-off from the filter to the kettle. Using compressed air, the filter is pushed closed and the mash is pumped from the mash mixer to the mash filter. In many ways, the mash filter looks a lot like a plate and frame filter. So why use a mash filter and not the more traditional lauter tun? In the words of Kindred Spirit Brewing’s Head Brewer Lee Lonnes – “less malt, less water and more yield.” And therefore, less environmental impact. While the wort is being run-off into the kettle, hot water is gently added to the grain bed to extract as much of the sugars from the grain as possible, thus increasing the yield in the kettle. This draining process is preceded by a gentle recirculating of the wort back into the lauter tun, helping to clarify the wort by using the grain bed as a natural filter. The lauter tun is simply a vessel designed with a false bottom so that the sweet wort can be drained to the kettle while leaving the grain behind. Some breweries have a combined mash mixer/lauter tun to save space. This process most commonly is done in a lauter tun. Lautering is simply the process of separating the sweet wort from the mash. To understand how a mash filter works, we need to understand lautering.
